Installation of new United Methodist bishop – On Sunday, Sept. 25, the new United Methodist bishop for the Iowa Conference, Laurie Haller, was installed at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Leadership for the service was provided by Bishop Don Ott and Bishop Deborah Kiesey, a former pastor in Iowa. Nancy and Dale Hanaman served as ushers.

Volleyball trip – Dale and Nancy Hanaman journeyed to Wartburg College in Waverly to cheer for their niece Maddie Bardole and the Buena Vista University volleyball team. The tournament included teams from two conferences. Dale and Nancy observed the raging water flowing under bridges as they traveled and the flooding in Northeast Iowa.
Baby shower – Great-aunt Kate Neese, cousin Emily and Great-Grandma Connie Neese recently attended a baby shower for the soon-to-be-born 11th great-grandchild of Connie. The parents-to-be are Krista and Lucas Neese of Mankato, MN. Other guests were Grandma-to-be Deanna Neese and Carrie Neese, wife of Tyler, who drove from Little Falls, MN. There was a large group of family and friends from the area, as well as the Iowa group, enjoying the day.
